Gus Szamboti Tribute and Cue Conversion

We will instead try an aluminum 3/8 X 10 pin on an ivory (or substitute) joint to push the balance further back. Hopefully we will make it a bit less than 19 ounces in weight.

I just agreed to the ringwork that Tony is proposing for the conversion cue. ;)

Here are some pics of the other cue that I will have converted

Sounds like the typical scam those pros run to try and steal some cues and make a quick buck off clueless hopeful cuemakers, how many times will cuemakers fall for it??? I hope one of the pros isn't Jose Parica, he's a known thief.

Yes it does and it has been known to happen. The pros are Ronnie Alcano and Antonio Gabica. Ronnie has been using Jazz for sometime now and he won a San Mig Asian Tour Leg breaking with a Jazz cue. Gabica plays with a 314. He asked Tony to design him a cue which Tony rejected until he got a commitment that the cue will not be compromised. BTW, Dennis Orocllo, also asked to try out a Tony cue. I think it was agreed that if they like the cues, they can get a deal with Tony. Otherwise, the cues will be returned after an agreed time period.

Finally decided on an aluminum pin (3/8X10) with the a light ivory substitute joint. Will post pics once its done. ;)

BTW, here's a close-up of the butt (forgot to post it a while back) ;)

pic of the GST and the conversion cue1. GST has the joint already but not yet fully turned. The conversion has the wenge sleeve, some rings, and we put the phenolic butt cap back. Still very rough. Needs to be cleaned up soon. I can feel it coming.....;)

A regular client of Tony saw this cue being constructed and gave Tony an offer he couldn't refuse. He assures me that he still has several pieces that he will ask me to put on ebay -- to be out in a couple of months or so. Told him not to put these things in areas of his shop that can be readily seen as his shop is not really big. ;)

I've got a big space to put those woods man... :D

Yes I've seen nice woods in your shop. Fact is I even made a deal with you on some pieces that I really liked. You're a good and cool guy man. You play a mean guitar as well. ;)

Cue Finished. Will post some pics of my 3 latest cues in another thread...
