H or M. Thompson break/jump

Can anyone tell me about this break jump cue that a friend is offering. It is looks like a bar cue with true spliced butt and has a satin/oil finish to it. The initials are H. or M. Thompson like the title says. It has brown phenolic joints for both the shaft and jump sections with thin red rings next to them. The shaft is wood at the joint with an aggressive pin. Not sure the thread size. Currently has a plain ferrel with a softer tip. This guy said he bought it from the maker for 150.00 or so about 4 years ago.

It is for sale for 125.00 obo and I was thinking about getting it for a break only cue and putting a phenolic ferrel with Samsara break tip. Any suggestions? Would this be a good deal. The only reason I'm considering it is that it is a good price and we don't get too many options for buying custom used equip. where I live. It does break well but the non q/r jump joint would be too impractical to really use.

About the only concern is that the threads are slightly chipped in the shaft. With it being a wood joint, is stripping these threads a real possibility? I know a lot of custom makers use wood joints but never really knew why.

Your help either identifying it or letting me know if it is a good deal would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

The cue was made by Hank Thompson from Texas. I have one of his sneaky Pete cues from when he got started. I remember that it played pretty well with the 3/8-10 pin. It has been in a case for 6 years. Maybe I should get it back out. As far as value. $125 is probably a fair price if it is in really good shape. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the info. guys. Sorry I don't have any pics. The cue is in decent shape but not excellent. I might just keep looking. Thanks again.
