Retired, getting back to the tables after 20+ years of inactivity.

Wanted to try something different, so I grabbed a new Jacoby shaft. Just arrived today. Tomorrow I'll get my first test drive.

I do ok with my gen1 Predator Z shaft, but felt the urge to get something new. I have very little experience trying different cues/tips.

Most recently being humbled by the tight pocket Diamond tables at Hard Times in Sac.

F. 62 yr old eyes. Need to visit the optometrist to see about billiards specific glasses.
 
I do like the Jacoby Black shaft. Works well for me. I only sold mine because the joint diameter was a bit larger than standard.
 
Went to the Corner Pocket in Citrus Heights. Big pocket tables.
Played with my new carbon based "girlfriend" for several hours. Nice!
I'm getting more english action with less effort.
Less deflection than my Z shaft. Smooth....

Plan to have a matching tip installed on the Z shaft. Currently a Navigator I think.
(Kamui Soft Tan Clear is on the Jacoby)

I had the exact same aluminum cue back in the 70’s. A neighborhood friend gave it to me. I have no idea who made it, but I didn’t really care since it wasn’t really my taste in a cue. The performance was horrible, well at least that was my opinion at the time.

Edit: it seems like I remember it being a two piece cue though.

Yes it was straight. That’s about the only thing good about aluminum cues. The feel, and sound just wasn’t at all like good ole wood. I had no problems with aluminum baseball bats, but I see why aluminum never caught on in the pool world.

Applied after stripping my tip of previous chalk. Yet to play with it.

Mostly using the Jacoby.

When I do use it... Interesting how the Z shaft color looks odd, thick, and feels like rough lumber compared to the carbon shaft.
