Hairline ferrule crack

update

Went to expo this year, showed shaft to Predator rep. after speaking with the Blackman cue repair booth.

When I got home, mailed it to Predator. Cost me shipping.
They covered the replacement of the ferrule and the shipping back.

+1 for predator considering I purchased this shaft in October 2008. The shaft is a 2nd Gen Z

Had this issue with one of my predator shafts. The only real way to take care of it is to send it back to predator. Sucks that it will take 2-3 weeks, but the upside is all you will be out is shipping because of the warranty. I am not even the original owner of my shaft and they still took care of me, plus sent the shaft back in a predator sleeve.

This is not entirely true. I have a 1st generation predator and it had the same issue, hairline crack in the ferrule. I contacted Predator and they told me to send it to them and the ferrule would cost $40 plus tip.
I am the original/only owner of this shaft for 10 years. That doesn't sound like a lifetime warranty to me?
Anyways, I had a local repairman replace it cheaper and he had all the specs of predator ferrules. He put a juma ferrule and it plays identical as far as I can tell.
I ordered a new OB cue and will be switching over to their products. Once I receive my OB, the Schon w/predator shaft will be getting sold.
I liked the way the Predator played and the 1st generation is a great shaft. But now that Predator has moved their operations overseas, I will not buy any Predator products. OB is made in Texas. Plus, when I contacted OB, the President of the company responded to my email. I really liked that :)

Predator did right!

It was nice to find out that Seybert's handles the repair.

Just want to re-iterate that Predator did back up their warranty.

My shaft was anything but new, bought in 2008.

Cracks

Do NOT shoot with a cracked Predator ferrule! You are asking for bigger problems. The crack may go down. And split the lamination in the shaft.

Bad turns to oh crap.

Long time ago made a length of the table draw shot on 8 ball. Tapped 9 in. Did not realize the ferrul cracked. Broke with my stick. Ferrul split a big chunk of the shaft off. Now needed a shaft ferrul and tip.
With that life lesson i would not use shaft until ferrull was replaced.

The shaft with the shorter ferrul is what I was playing with before I got my revo. The whole top of the ferrul popped off like a cap lol fortunately it doesn't play any different then it did before.
