Hall of Fame selection

Although I don't like Earl Strickland's actions off the table, I do appreciate his talent and know why he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. What I don't understand is how someone like Allen Hopkins was passed over for the same honor. He has won world titles in more than one billiard discipline as well as tirelessly promoting the sport we all love. I just think there was a severe oversight done here and would like to see something done to correct it

I asked Alan why he wasn't in the HOF when he was in Orlando for the KOH tournament, and his exact words were "I turned them down". I didn't get a chance to get an elaboration on this statement, but it makes sense. Based on accomplishments, Alan has been a HOF lock for a long time, so something obviously is afoot.

Guess Marice Daly turned them down too. How could a man with his record go unnoticed for 100 + years. Why did it take so long for Ceulemans to get in? What are they thinking up there? What does it take?

The fact is, you only get so many times to be nominated for the BCA HOF. I belive it is three times, and then you're totally out of the nomination process.

Allen has been nominated twice so far and has not been inducted. Allen can request that his name be removed from the ballot because of the limited nominations and has done so.

Personally, and this IS A BIASED OPINION as I have been on his staff for the past 9 Super Billiards Expos, I truly believe he should be inducted not only for his successes in tournaments both past and present, but also for his contribution to the industry all around with his SBE.

I just wish he could get on a ballot that would ensure his induction. Either that, or the BCA shouldn't limit the times a person could get on a ballot AND, God forbid, grow up and embrace Allen as a player and as one of the biggest promoters of this sport.
