I'm excited! Here is my new custom EAP cue, built to my design and specs.
Bocote and Purple Heart woods, medium dark blue and red acrylic inlays. 4-point. 19.5 oz, 5/16x18 pin (to match my vintage Adam cues).
The "new" part is the butt; I had previously purchased an EAP CF shaft about two years ago. Back then, I had hit with one of Ed's cues, and vowed that some day I'd have one of his cues. Well, the day has come.
I don't think the photos represent the cue well. I think it looks better in person. I spec'd the blue with red accents because some of my favorite car schemes were midnight blue metallic with red pinstripes, so I wanted to take that color combo to a custom cue. I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it.
It hits very similarly to my Adam cues. We debated a bit about whether to do a linen wrap. I had originally spec'd a wrap, but that Purple Heart wood looks so great. So far, I am having a little trouble getting used to the unwrapped butt. In my family room where I play often, it feels a little sticky due to humidity. But I'm going to shoot with it a while before I decide whether to cover up that beautiful wood. I experimented this morning. A left glove turned inside out worn on my right hand seems to take care of the stickiness. More shooting with it to get used to it forthcoming.
