Was talking to a buddy who lives in the L.A. area and he said that the latest scuttlebutt is that the whole square block is going to be torn down and redeveloped. Anybody heard anything along these lines? From what he told me the other buildings nearby are empty (or soon to be) and that the land is worth a bunch and owner has big ideas for it. Would really hate to see such a classic spot have to move or even worse close.

The businesses near by are mostly vacant. That is true. I don't know anything about plans for development. Would be a shame if it was gone. The house of billiards in Santa Monica is apparently for sale but so far their asking price is too high from what I've heard
I heard similar rumors, about 2 yrs ago. Nothing has come of it yet
