Hard Times Bellflower

Rude Dog

<---Dumb and Dumber
I haven't been to Hard Times in about 9 years but I hear the place hasn't changed a bit. The same old regulars, a few new one's, and plenty of action. I will soon make a trip there to play one of the Sunday tournaments and maybe get some action if my game ever gets back to where it once was. I know I'm nowhere close to what it used to be because here in Arizona I don't have to run out to win. Not to say that there aren't any good players in this state, but definitely not in this town, Kingman. If there are any players that would like to come here to play on a bar table, go to Tequila Bob's on Northern Ave. on a Monday or Wednesday night. Oh, and Jimmy M., you know who I am, call Bobalou and get my number. Give me a call soon.

Still a very good place but the action is not the same.
Plenty of golf but the huge one-holers and 9-ballers aren't there anymore.
Sunday's a great day to go there.

Hey, what's up, Rude Dog?! I'll get your number and give you a call soon.
Cool, I thought that was you when I found this site last night. I tried calling Bobalou but he must have changed his number. He has my new cell number though. Talk to ya soon.

The place is more quiet musically and with regard to action. You can get cheap action though.
It's not the same since Raphael, Kieth, Jeanette, Eileen and now John Schmidt aren't around.
If you come to the Sunday tournaments run by Babalou you can play 10 ball ring games with Morro, Hemma, James Boch, Francisco and a few others.

I don't think I'd stand a chance with the "few others" in a 10 ball ring game, let alone Morro and Francisco. I heard that Hemmah has stepped his game up a bit, thats good to hear. He always did play pretty good, had a few good tournaments back when I played there. Like I said though, thats been at least 9 years. I look forward to going there soon, just to be back in a "real" pool room atmosphere again will be nice. I'm tired of being around these guys that can't play at all, but think they can. Ha, me included.

If you get back in stroke you'd be the favorite against Fransisco. He doesn't play like he used to. On top of the fact that he's getting older, he took a break from playing for a while and hasn't played the same since he started playing again (at least, that seems to be the case when I have seen him play).

I remember seeing you play

I remember the days when you were at hard times on a regualar basis. It was a given that any time I would walk in to Hard Times I would see you and Hawaian Jimmy in the place. I remember you making it real far in one of their big tournaments. I also remember when you came up to my dads pool hall to play him (Mike Boyce). You were a real strong player and I am sure you will get back in stroke if you want to. It would be good if you can do it now because there are some good west coast tournaments coming up should be lots of action for a guy like you who hasn't been around the circuit for a while.

I remember that time I went there to play your dad and I remember getting beat on that tough table he had there. I wasn't in the right frame of mind that night either, like most nights back in those days. I played good one match, horrible the next. Hopefully, that will be one thing that changes when I do get back in stroke, having some consistency.

As Joseph said, the action is definitely not the same. Along with the players mentioned who have left the area, the stake horse who brought all of the roadies in for the 5 figure action is gone and so is the electricity. But don't get me wrong it is still a hell of a room and match ups can still be arranged but when you have a long time group who have matched up forever the action does become sluggish.
