Has a lengthy vacation ever taken you off your game?

A long vacation with no practice has made Balabushka a dull-er player.

Ever happen to you?

Usually for me, a week away from pool causes my game to suffer. I once took a 10 year break and it really went to pot.

gotta blame sump'n

I took a bathroom break during a tournament last week and couldn't sink a ball after that!;)

hehehe i know the feeling. Somtimes just taking a break to go get a beer from the bar is enough to knock me outta stroke.

Or maybe its just the beer

a week to a month off sometimes helped me.(cleared my head etc....)
but i am on a 2 year right now and my game is lost cant find it anywhere...

The 1.5 month break I took a few years ago was the best thing that ever happened to my game. Played the best pool of my life a couple of years after that. When I started playing after the break, I was able to get rid of many bad habits as I was putting the pieces together with my mechanics. Highly recommended !

Over the years, I have developed a very precise methodical stroke.

In layman's term, it has been described as a "flying chicken wing" or an "unfolding lawnchair" stroke. My stroke gives Mike Davis's the 6 ball. LOL

If I don't play every day, my stroke goes in the toilet. If I lay off for a week or so, it's like starting over.

This brings to mind an old joke. What's the difference between kinky and preverted?

Kinky is when you use a feather and preverted is when you use the whole chicken!

With my stroke, I use the whole chicken. LOL

I recently took just over a month off, i was in quite a slump and to be honest couldn't be bothered to play. I started playing again a couple of weeks ago and I'm playing some of the best pool I've ever played.

It seems to me that if you take an extended break, you have to recognize this and make your first couple of table sessions focus on perfect fundamentals. In my experience, this is the quickest way to get back in stroke. good luck.

Good advice. I spent 20 years in the army and out of that I had 3 separate years I couldn't play at all. Along with time in the woods and schools there were many weeks without playing. Sometimes it came back fast and other times I felt I would never reach my past level of play again. A lot of it is thinking your not supposed to play well. Once I stopped thinking those thoughts, it came back quickly.
