Has anyone ever heard of a older Pool Player named Horace Howard or have any stories

Great stories

Amazing stories everyone.I had never heard of him before.Sounds like he is truely one of the greats.Awesome thread it is stories like these that make this forum on pool so excellent.

There is some talent that shows up at The Hole Thang in Macon on the third Saturday of each month ... Scotty Townsend , Paul Turner Jessie Middlebrooks ...every once in awhile Doug Yonug comes through ... you never know who you might see in there. Not to long ago Archer and Strickland were in there will their traveling pool school.
You're dead on about the level of talent in the tournament. I played Paul Turner after one the tournaments. I knew I stood no chance against him but we played two races to 7 for 20 each and he won both. People were amazed that I was playing Paul for money but it was low stakes and I never pass up the opportunity to play against someone better than me,unless it's for really high stakes, because it's one of the ways you'll get better.
I was there when Archer and Strickland held their exhibition before the pool school. It was amazing to see some of the shots they pulled off and the stories they told. Johnny also played the local house pro Chuck Dorsett in a short race and Johnny won. Here are some videos from the exhibition that I uploaded to YouTube.

I agree I show up quite a bit have had little luck there so far but it is a small price to pay to play against such talent ... I also agree that is a good way to improve.
