I am looking to buy a pool table and found a Swaim 9ft table for a good price. Has anyone ever heard of them? Any information would be great.

Never heard of them....

If this is your first table, you are generally better off buying a used commercial table than a new "home model" table. The cost may be about the same, but the commercial table will be 10 times better.

This is if you currently are or are aspiring to be a serious player. If its just to bang balls around with the family a few times a year, than any table is fine.

Yes, I am serious about my game. I did have a 7ft table with pockets shimmed to 4 1/4 corner and 4 1/2 side. Then I sold it and was playing on a 9ft Diamond at our local pool hall. We'll it just closed 2 weeks ago and I want my own table again. I really want a 9ft and have the pockets shimmed and put Simonis 860 on it. But to do that I have to pick up the table cheap. I found this table and I heard that they are very expensive furniture quality tables. I can get a great deal on it, as long as it will play well. As close to a Diamond as I can get. I hope.

I found their website. They are imported tables. They won't play like the Diamond of GC.

Try posting in the Ask The Mechanics section the part of the country you are in. One of the guys there might have a refurbished GC or Diamond that will work for you.

Also, try contacting the owners of the place that closed down. Maybe you can get one of their Diamonds.

I don't know what your budget is, but I think most people here find GC's for 1000 to 2000, plus installation and new cloth. Used Diamonds are usually about 1K more or so.

I know where there is a GC in Baton Rouge for $1000.00 if you are interested let me know and I will give the details and phone number.---Smitty

I work in interior design . Swaim is a high end furniture company and are what I would call ok in regards to quality .

I have only had a couple of pool tables come through over the years . The Swaim I had in the whse was just within the last few months . I did store it about 8 months before it went out to our customer .

I had some movement in the two pedestal bases that had to be repaired but that was it .It was a 9' table and the cost was $7,600 of course after we taxed it the retail price was $15K.

I wouldn't buy one . If I could afford it I would have bought a new diamond but settled for an Olhausen and am very happy with it !
