Has anyone heard of this happening? (APA Question)

I emailed my LO about this and got this back:

"The answer is: yes, corrections are made. APA has a specific procedure for adjusting the winner's score so that this type of win will not result in a higher skill level. Basically, the score for that match is put at an average for the player's skill level."

This sounds like the sensible thing to do, but this is completely different from what my LO has been saying. I want to give both points of view the benefit of the doubt so my questions would be is this procedure that your LO is talking about a well known or commonly used one? Is it possible that may have been a recent change in procedures?

Is there something in a book, a page number and paragraph perhaps, that I can refer my LO to?

Edit- On second thought, even if I'm right and somehow prove my LO wrong, I'm not seeing a long term upside. Unless it's really something my LO legitimately may not know, this could backfire in a big way.

Thanks!

I have even a Better APA Story

In playoffs my 6 played a 2
He won one game because of a time rule so the last match was only one game
He went up to a 7 after one game with lots of innings

I emailed my LO again, asking if that stuff's in a LO-only manual somewhere. If I get some info back, I'll post it.

Not sure I understand " did so well"...

MrLucky I here that your league operator is taking alot of heat because so many teams out of MrQ's did so well this past week end.

In each match in a tournament there can only be one winner and one loser ! Could you elaborate please this statement makes no sense to me

It would make no sense whatsoever

To have to mark these items on the score sheet if they did not come into play when the data is entered ! ;)

Followup

Well this thing came back and really bit us in the a$$.

We just finished playing a few days ago in the final APA team tourney for the trip to Vegas. We made top points last session, so we made it to the final tourney for two trips to Vegas among 16 teams.

Our three going up to a five made things tight as far as the twenty three rule going into things, but we all practiced and went into it with a good attitude. Our team was 3,4,4,5,5,6,6. After the first match, we had two players raised, so we were 4,4,5,5,5,6,6, so instantly myself and the other six could not play. Well in the next match, I decided to throw out our recently raised 3 to 5 against another five early in the second match and he won,... in 56 innings. (12 defensive shots by his opponent, but still!) We somehow won that match and played in the final match for the trip. We lost 3-1, to a team that has been together for at least two years with the same exact players with all but two players at the exact same handicap.

Two of my fives lost to their six and seven. What else could I do?

My disappointment in the system doesn't need to be said.
