Has anyone mastered a Jump Cue with hardened Buffalo hide? I can NOT do it.

I know Massey has a jump cue like this from Ned Morris. I had one made for me but I can not get it to jump like I can with a phenolic tip. I can jump the old cue with one ball width between the ball to jump. Hopefully, someone can let me know the secret.
