Has Meucci gone belly up?

Meucci's

I have had about 35 Meucci's over the past 20 years. My experience has been that the earlier Meucci Originals logoed cues seem to play better than the newer ones, although I have hit with some of the new ones that play really well.

As with any cue purchase, even high dollar stuff, the hit you want will be different than the guy at the next table. It is a matter of personal preference. I know several great players (Cliff Joiner included) that continue to play with Meuccis. Maybe its easier to hustle with a Meucci than a several thousand dollar cue.

Anyway. I have found that the earlier Meucci joints, ringwork, and ferrules tended to crack and needed repairs, but the cues held up structurally. Since their newer logo came out, the materials used hold up better, but structurally I don't find that hold up as well, as noted by several who have stated that the points and inlays seem to "pop" through the finish.

When it comes to having a cue repaired or refinished, you can't beat Scot Sherbine (in my opinion). I wouldn't send it back to Meucci.
