Has Streaming Increased Business?

I wonder if poolroom owners that have streaming on their table or tables have shown any rise in business? After watching the 6-ball streamed by accu-stat from NJ last night it seemed like a lot of players would like to be in that tournament. It can't be for the money ($100 winner take all) and it can't be that format, I wouldn't think. People like to be on TV so their family and friends can see them. The Internet I the next best thing, and probably better than TV for the younger players.

If streaming is indeed increasing business for the rooms, all kind of things could be done with it. Rooms could have tournaments against other rooms with teams playing the ghost w/o any of the players leaving their homeroom. A room on the West Coast could play a room on the East Coast. There are many things that could be done with streaming if you think outside the box. I would love to hear from room owners on this. Has streaming added any business for your room? Like to hear from other members on AZ if this is a good idea.

Look at FatBoy, he's going to stream weddings and I think receptions from his new building. That's a brilliant idea he has. I'll bet he will be booked solid a few months after the building is complete. Johnnyt

Not Sure

JohnnyT,
I can`t say my webcam has brought me any business, but a lot of people watch it daily and tell me so.

If I move the camera to a different part of the room they want to know why.

It provides them some way to kill time to I guess, sometimes it is running all day long with no one playing on that side of the room, weird.

Sorry to hear that business is poor right now. I had a room on Long Island in NY in the 1970's to early 1980's. There was a few bucks in it back then but way too many hours to make a living.

I thought for sure streaming would help most rooms a little. It's hard to try something new when slow business is making things tight for you. I hope something lights a fire under pool again like the COM and The Hustler. Johnnyt

I really enjoy watching the streaming videos, when I have time. If an event is coming up that I really want to be at, but can't, I will try to watch, if it's gonna be streaming. I watch more streaming videos than tv, these days. I'm hoping to see some streaming videos of artistic pool competitions, soon.

I cannot attest to increased business in the halls themselves but I have noticed a slight increase in watchers. Perhaps one will lead to the other!?! I'm looking forward to seeing what the hall owners have to say.
