Has this happened to anyone here ?

When you make a big change to how you play -- like slowing "way" down -- you're going to get worse before you get better.

Like postal, I decided to slow way down as well. One of the guys I used to play quite regularly was Dave Grau. Other players constantly complained about his pace of play  . He sure does play pretty sporty. Found my game jumping another notch with his help. Used to think I could make any shot from anywhere. The same shot from much closer and nearly straight in is far easier to make. Eventually postal will find a pace that suits his game. There can only be one Lou Butera in the game of pool :p .

It's certainly not the equipment...but sometimes that stuff will get in your head and if you have the funds to replace it or try a new shaft (which it sounds like you are doing) then go for it. Just understand it's not the cue that's the problem.

Downside to this is you can start an endless cycle where changing gear helps you improve for a while (or get back to playing at your level at least) but then somehow your head will start getting in the way again and you start feeling the need to search for the answers in another gear change.

Yes , as stated above my changing the way I normally shoot has thrown me off and has caused me to get worse ( sometimes ) I keep going back and forth shooting fast one time and slow the next . I do feel that shooting slow and more precise would be more beneficial in the long run , its just hard to stay with it when I miss a shot that i know i could have made with ease shooting faster .

I have looked at different cues even some high end customs , but have shied away from them for the moment . I have heard that going from a 13mm tip to the 11.75 is a huge change , but i am hoping that looking at the smaller tip wont distract me as much as the 13mm .
