Have I gone crazy or what?? Move a Diamond Pro to put a poker table under my diamond light. I'm lucky enough to have
an understanding wife who tolerates me playing pool and poker. Here is
it 6 years after buying and using my Diamond Pro that I'm considering
ocassionally, like once a month, moving my Diamond Pro about 4 to 6 feet up
against the wall to put my poker table under the Diamond Light. Seems
like I've gone a little crazy!!! I know it will probably cause the table to no longer
be level at all after moving it....even with a professionaly type lift
dolly that will raise it up using the cross members. It might even
cause the slates to pop even though we used that super slate sealer that Brady sales. The dolly I was looking at
is this one...

The heavy duty one on the right.....seems like it will only lift from
the cross members. I could even throw some more wood on it to evenly
distribute the weight across the length of the table.

My question to you is......Do you think it will do any damage to the
table?? I know it will not be level when I put it back.....But One of
my good friends is a table mechanic and we can fix that. He doesn't
seem to think it will hurt the table. What do you guys think??

I think you're better off looking into a hard cover of some sort and use the pool table as a poker table...JMO

JMO but I second Timberly's answer

I third yes thats third Timberly's advice!! Get a table cover and put some felt on it and use that as a poker table instead of moving it once a month besides after you do that a couple times you will get tired of moving it!!

Yes you have gone crazy. Don't do it! You'll be very sorry.

That seems like the logical answer....But, I already have a Great Casino Quality Poker Table that we play on. I have been setting up in the kitchen or Living room......It would be away from the main part of the house if I could set it up in the pool room. My friend, the table mechanic, is new to the business and he is not 100 percent sure that it will not hurt the cross members.

There's no way I would be willing to damage a diamond pro table for a once a month poker game. Sell the poker table on ebay and invest in a nice table cover for the pool table..... I've got a feeling you'd end up regretting it if you don't.

it can be done but to do it on a regular basis will not be good for the table in the long run.i moved 8 gold crowns last month without taking them apart,re arranged them in the same room and re leveled them.the type of floor you have will make it very easy or very difficult for you to do this.be careful.

That sounds like a plan... pool at your house, poker at someone else's.... I'm sure your wife would LOVE to have someone else host part of the festivities...

I think I read all the posts so far, and didn't see this mentioned...

If you can move the pool table 4-6 ft and put the poker table under that light, why couldn't you just install a new light in the open space you have, and set the poker table up there when needed?

As an added bonus, if your pals take too much off you playing cards, you can just drag them over to the pool table and take it back! ;)

LMAO, I was so flabbergasted by the thought of moving a 9 ft dianmond once a month for poker that I didn't catch the part about it being simply to put the poker table under the light!! I guess once I got to a certain point in the original post, I didn't notice anything else. I was thinking it was more for room. Looking back through the original post, it does read as if you want to do this simply for the lighting..... I have to agree with Qnut.... install a 2nd light.

Timberly, that is a magnificent suggestion. You can buy a hard cover that is waterproof & very flat, I have one. You will have a lot of room for drinks, smokes, money, chips & the only thing you have to watch for is clumsy or drunk players.

Keep a few cloths handy & your troubles are over.

It's upstairs in a bonus room and the roof line tapers down toward the edges of the room. I can always just play downstairs.....But, It's nice to be upstairs and away from the main part of the house. I do feel kind of crazy thinking about moving my Diamond for a poker game but it would be an awesome set up and I have grown to enjoy a good poker game.

Move it.
That way, after a few poker games, you can post again about how you screwed up a perfectly good pool table.

Cant you 'modify' your poker table?

Where you can hall it in and set it on the Diamond? I wouldnt mess with the pool table, 9' tables are just not ment to be moved all that often. I imagine your poker table is not as valuable as the pool table.

An emphatic yes!!

Playing poker on your kitchen or dining room table isn't going to effect your poker game. Moving a perfectly good pool table around willie-nillie will effect your pool game.

Yeah....You guys are right. I knew I was being foolish the whole time. Thanks for keeping me straight.
