see picture below.

I have been messing with lots of crazy cue ideas, and I think I'd like
to try something like this. I am in a position to cnc a nice pair of
aluminum (or other material?) router table templates for the joint.
Is this how you'd make it?

I am NOT a cue maker and I don't ever intend to be, but I have done
lots of woodworking. I would be willing to create the hard tooling (and
allow the cuemaker to make unlimited blanks under his/her name) in
exchange for a very nicely finished pair of player/break cues to my
specifications made from blanks that it creates.

Anyone the least bit interested/have the ability to pull something like
this off?

Jon

what you are showing looks a lot like a 'butterfly splice',,,,these are fairly easy to make and require no template....

I've been wrong before;(and will be again); check out butterfly cues in the AZ forum,,,I'm sure someone has posted photos and argued about this topic......j

Merry Christmas.....:D

Jack, that's a double butterfly. The male part has a rounded end instead of a point. The tricky part is getting that matched in contour with the female part.

Merry Christmas Guys!!

hey - that's where the pair of matched cnc'ed aluminum router templates come in. That's how I would do it at least.

ps. sorry for the huge pic - I didn't think it was that big...

yeah I could do that!

I was just wondering if anyone out there was interesting in making more
than one of these (and thus trading some work for the permanent
templates). Also, as I said I'm not a cuemaker and don't really have
access to nice seasoned wood to make the blank. I suppose if I'm only
making one or two of these, I could easily do as you say and just cnc the
wood.

Maybe there's a cuemaker that has a couple of nice pieces of seasoned
coco and bem that I could buy ready to splice. I could do the splice and
have someone finish the butt and make a shaft for it.
