Have you ever transitioned from a long pro taper to a short stiff tapered shaft?

I made the transition from a long taper to a sharp taper for awhile when I was playing on the WPBA tour with Schuler Cues. Depending on the sharpness of the taper, it can become a problem as the cue moves through your bridge hand.

I switched to a 'V' bridge during the time I used the sharp-tapered shaft. It gave me the solid hit with a smaller diameter tip that I was looking for, however, being a spin player, I felt that the 'V' bridge was compromising me on certain pool shots. Carom players use that taper with a closed bridge but they stand taller at the table and their bridge lengths are significantly shorter than pool players.

I eventually switched to an LD shaft.

i play with an ob1 /ob1+/0b2/ob2+ shafts all the time
i dont have problems switching from one to the other

I'm having Richard Black build me another 'log'.

14mm shaft with 1-inch ivory ferrule and Balabushka taper.

What is a Balabushka taper?

I have heard it described before, but I don't think it could be applied to a 14 mm shaft. Do you have details?

14mm dang, always wondered why pool cues usually have bigger tips than carom cues

I cant play worth a lick at 12mm

11 is what's working best for me,for all games

Freegame to 3c to straight pool
