Hayden Ernst had a tremendous showing at the 2026 Derby City Classic. How do you think he ranks with my top 5 USA players within his first 10 years of playing national competition?

1. Landon Shuffett - Beat Earl Strickland back to back at the Tupica Open and two months later in New York at Earl's home pool room on 10' table at the age of 21.
2. Shane VanBoening - Nuff said
3. Billy Thorpe
4. Corey Duell
5. Hayden Ernst???

Tiger was playin in gambling games with his dad's cronies when he was about 10-11. His dad knew that there was no better preparation for later golf. Tiger also was doing his own travel prep. when he played junior tournaments. He was more mature/seasoned at 17 than some players ever get to.

And you know he waited to turn pro. He had US Juniors and US Ams under his belt, and an actual, if not completely normal, college experience before turning professional. And he was exposed to the majors and other professional events before turning pro and winning them. In 1996 at 20 he was ready...
