Headaches while Aiming?

I just wanted to see if anyone is getting headaches while playing pool. I am not sure it the follows under the Aiming section or not. It just seems funny that basically I am getting a headache and upper mid shoulder pain about every time I play anymore, but it happens at different times while playing. I start getting a headache in 15 minutes to 1.5 hours after I started playing. It does not matter if it is in a tournament or just getting some table time in. I have done a google search but nothing that is promising nor to help figure out the issue. The only information that I got out of is that it does happen from time to time with different players. I feel that my body posture may have some impact to this as I play low to the table.

Has anyone have or had this issue before? If so, how did you correct it? Could this be related in how that I AIM in my stance?

Your feed back will be valuable as I love the game and want to continue playing with out the headaches.

Be Well

Oh yeah, I know this one well. When I was just starting out I got headaches until I found some clues to go by that reduced the stress. What is really weird is that when I didnt understand much about how I did what I did that I would tighten my stomach muscles as I aimed and could tell when I was on target by the way the shot made me tense up. Playing pool like that was exhausting.

Headaches while aiming? Nah! Headaches while reading an aiming forum? Hell yes!!

Thank you for your candor as it appears that you are in a perfect world. If this is the case then you may benefit by avoiding the Aiming forum as you say “Headaches while reading an aiming forum? Hell yes!!”. I am clearly looking for positive advice as this issue can affect my aiming if I need to change my overall stance. Before I go making any major changes… I want to hear from individuals that have had this issue or that know of someone that had a related issue.

Have you had your vision checked lately? It sounds like maybe your eyes may be working too hard to aim and that strain is causing the headaches.

LOL Perfect world? Far from it!! Relax Stephan it was a joke! Perhaps you haven't been around the aiming forums long enough! As to your inquiry regarding headaches, I would get your eyes checked as suggested above. Good luck in your search for the answer!

The first thing I would suspect isn't aiming-related at all -- it's either 1) changes in blood pressure and balance with all the up-and-down involved in playing. Perhaps your brain and body are overtasked from the up-and-down motions. or 2) your back/shoulder pain is causing the headache. It's all one Central Nervous System.

Try doing those type motions without playing pool or aiming. Just walk around the table for a couple of hours (you mentioned 15min to 1.5hr) getting into a shot position and back up every 25 seconds or so. These days you can buy inexpensive, reliable and unobtrusive blood pressure monitors to see if the motions cause substantial changes in your blood pressure. (I'm not a doc, so I can't tell you how much is substantial...much of which depends on your weight and other health factors).

At the end of the day you're probably going to need to consult a specialty doctor, but best to go into the first appointment with as much information for him as possible.

Good luck. Hope you solve it.
