Headphones at hard times sac

I feel lucky to be able to play with great friends in a friendly social environment. I'm not into it to compare Fonzie points or become a pro or to gamble. different people have different priorities. If not for the social aspect, which I really enjoy a lot, I could stay home and whack balls around by myself. I quickly find that boring so I'd likely last an hour or so then I'd decide go work on some constructive project. I have lots of things that I do like to do solo, Pool or Snooker just isn't one of them. I dont have any friends that are anti social.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess ;-)

If the room is distracting, I fight through it if my opponent does as well.
I consider being able to focus with other distractions around as a part of the game. sometimes it goes past a certain threshold and Ill say something or step back and wait a moment.

I normally don't like complaining if it's not a large enough issue to take a stand on.
Policing my environment isn't really my priority. Ill stand up for myself when necessary Im not really a pushover.

what I often do is take the distraction and just pretend I'm practicing at shooting with multiple distractions which , if I choose to view it that way, I can consider part of my personal challenge as well as accuracy, CB placement etc.

I find it's a way to cope with distractions is to think of them as a part of my challenge. Bit of a mental trick, but helps, for me. sometimes we do have a choice to let things bother us , or to simply choose not to.

I look upon this as a skill. I'm used to having to focus upon technical details in a room with loud machienry, so maybe it helps or maybe it just ruined my hearing to some extent ;-) If my GF gives me a chore list and I ignore it , I call it heard immunity ;-)

Back in the day, My play was almost exclusively in bars and mostly 8 foot tables. A hobby that provided a small supplement to my income. I would visit the 211 regularly for lessons on the big table in the church like setting. Totally different environment. 🤷‍♂️
The distraction factor in bars is a large variable that often tested my focus ability. The titty bar distraction was a favorite. 😉 loud music of all variety was standard.
A young man that thought he was big enough to play for $5 stated, "I never lose to Freebird" as it started playing as he racked for the 3rd consecutive time. I broke and ran and said, "I never lose to Freebird either". 🤷‍♂️ I was not hustling, just giving a lesson, a $20 dollar lesson. 🤷‍♂️
A Friday night distraction at the dance club was the crowd around the table. All with drinks in hand and focused on the band and dance floor. Many times the pre shot routine started with spreading the elbows and backing away from the table. Then step forward and plant and shoot before the opening colapsed. Ah those were the days. 😉

I personally just look at a player wearing them as weak, needing something extra. It doesn't bother me and I don't care what they do. However, I am not going to go out of my way to make sure you hear anything, miss a push, or any other verbal cue and it's on you.
I watched the whole finals with Tyler and while he played good, the earbuds made him look weak. He wants to be the next great American player but needs a crutch still. You need to be the MAN out there, walk out with a strut and say give me your best game, I'll still dominate you. Wearing earbuds/ headphones gives the other impression.
