This type of email is called fishing. As in fishing for suckers. Don't respond or erasure this email. Rather, please do yourself, and all of us, a favor and report it to the PayPal fraud department. Just forward the email to: spoof@paypal.com The same technique is used to fish for eBay passwords and in that case forward the email to spoof@ebay.com They have departments that are set up to hunt these folks down.
Regards,
Dr. C

I get them almost weekly. Just delete them. If they don't know your name it aint PayPal.

"Phishing", not fishing. But that's neither here nor there - you're right on the rest. It happens all the time.

Never click on links in emails like that - if you suspect there might be something legit to the email, just go directly to the services' website and dig around there.

Also never respond to these emails with "use the yellow button" I believe it could contain a keystroke virus. I get this stuff daily, often times repeats.
I usually report them but you should never reply in any way.
