can anybody tell me what heartwood birds eye maple is. I just received my 2nd cue that i had made for my memory of my wife and the foreare is made of it. any help would be appreciated. I will be posting pictures of it soon. it is very similar to the Jerry -R- cue that i put on here. just not as many crosses and not a leather wrap....by the way it was made by a long time friend i have known for 30 years....Paul Dayton...........mike

Heartwood means it is from the center of the tree (or branch). Usualy dark brown in color. Nice hitting wood.

dirty looking birdseye maple-

I'll second Mr. Fishers response- brown and white birdseye looks, and plays great. I consider myself lucky to handpick wood from Mich. They take woods very serious in Barraga Mich,by Marquette, (birdseye). mark
