Hey everyone. I'm from Australia, play pool casually, but really startin to pick it up recently and play every chance i get. Just wondering what tables are used in pro comps over in the US. 9 footers? also ball and pocket sizes...
 
Welcome to the forum. 9 ft. tables usually Brunswick or Diamonds
Ball size 2 1/4" with 4 1/2" to 4 3/4" pockets depending on area
 
I think that's a good assumption. We did have another poster that was from down under but I don't remember his handle. We have several from Canada and at least one from England. Oh yeah, we also have some from the Philippines.

well i guess it stands to reason, since there's nowhere near an amount of pool playing here as there is in the US, at the professional level anyhow

hehe, thanks Zim, i look forward to gettin some (read heaps) of knowledge. and i never do take anything personally...altho i do like those fiberglass buts on cues, they make a nice sound...CRRRAACCKKK!!!

Do you know Shawn Budd...Aaron Mahoney?
I play in Melbourne and Perth about every year. There are a few "yankee" tables in both. There was a room out in the Sydney suburbs towards Parramatta. Closed about a year ago I think.
If you have a local place to play ...let me know , I will be down there again in 2004. I usually bring a few cues and cases with me on each trip. Also, up in Newcastle, Edward Charlton (Eddie's son) has a billiard supply. His wife plays pretty good also.

Hey,

I got thrashed by Shawn a few of months ago at the big saturday comp at the family inn. Dam he is unstoppable on a bar box. Pity the comp isn't on anymore.

Anyone know any good comps round the sydney area? Not very many locations I know of with the 9 footers, only one in castle hill as far as I know.

Beeman, where abouts do you play, are you in the NSW 8ball league?

i'm in south east syd, apart from local pubs i usually head to the hall on coogee beach.
comps wise i just go round on the bar boxes..
sorry, haven't played those guys u mention

i been lookin for that league 8ballbanger..but can't find any info on it, can u help me out? also been lookin for 9-ball league
