Just want to say hello, I joined after reading all the fantastic posts on identifying older gold crown 1,2,3 tables. I wanted to stay within a budget so a brand new table was out of the question.
I'm 65 years old and spent the majority of my misguided youth in pool halls playing on gold crowns. I now am retired and purchased a hope and lucky for me it came with a pool room and older Murry 4X8 table.
Yesterday I purchased a brunswick gold crown 1 that was advertised as a 2 but because I did my homework on this site I new more about the table then the seller.

Now it is time to put it together. I will take my time and do it right just love what you can do with the different looks. The table I purchased came with RED felt ouch! but it is in great shape so I'll stick with it until the grand kids destroy it.
 
Welcome, ballafish. I hope you enjoy your stay. There are some very friendly folks here who are more than willing to share information and experiences. I wouldn't, however, expect a free T-shirt anytime soon. :)

Congrats and welcome to AZ. Glad to have you and yes there are plenty of people on here to share there advice and experiences. If you ever make it down to New Orleans give me a shout and we can get together for a drink and a few games. I hope when I get to retire I can still play pool and enjoy it as much as it sounds like you do! I am only 34 so I guess I got a long way to go. Welcome again sir!

Congrats on your retirement. My mom just retired last year and she sometimes gets bored. She needs a hobby or something to occupy some time. Glad to see you are doing something you love with your free time. Enjoy and welcome!
 
welcome sir! Being retired, at least you won't have a boss complaining about your deadlines since you spend too much time in AZ like I do!
 
ballafish...Welcome to the forums! Red cloth huh? Well, we'll still allow you to post here...but change that cloth as soon as you can. You'll find out quickly that red cloth will color your cue and your hands red every time you play.
