Helmsetter Question

I have recently come across a Helmsetter cue at a local pawn shop. The cue is in rough shape, but nothing a refinish wouldn't cure. I am completely unfamiliar with these cues and am wondering whether it is worth picking up.

I am not sure of the woods, but it is a 4 pointer with Helmsetter written in one of the points on the forearm and a V on the butt cap.

It comes with 2 shafts that I don't believe are original. They have been tampered with and the original owner may have changed the ferrels himself.

Any advice?

He's a good cue maker. He was with Adam Cues for awhile overseeing the
George Balabushka line. I have one of them & I love it.

Also Mr. Muecci made a comment about an Adam Bushka in his black dot shaft test video when one tested the best with the stock & his black dot shaft. He said it must be a very well made butt.

the cues with the roman numerals on the butt cap are newer ones.. they were made in the same factory as lucasi, the roman numbers designated which model they were in the catalog line..

they arent worth no where near what the older ones are..

for what you pay for it and have it refinished.. it would probably be worth about as much as a new one costs.. so it may be in your best interest to look for one that doesnt need a refinish.. may get it cheaper..
