Helmstetter tip question

I have a Helmstetter TJ that is in need of a new tip. I was hoping someone would know what hardness of tip would have come on it, (soft, medium, hard) as I've always loved the way this cue plays. TIA.

Since this likely predates layered tips, a Lepro or Triangle were likely the original tip.

Triangle. Helmstetter went to work for Callaway Golf. When Callaway started they used wooden shafts and Helmstetter was recruited for his expertise with cue sticks.

It’s really tough to judge the hardness of a tip if the brand is unknown.
