HELP ID THIS VERY OLD CUE - 50 + years

I have recently been given a amazing gift in my opinion. I know this old man at my local pool hall. He is like 80 something and a great guy. I play pool with him and we socialize and just have a good time. He told me that he has his pool cue from his college days that needs some fixing. I do some repairs for the local guys here . Any way I said bring it in.
So next time I see him he has the cue. This thing looks like is 100 years old. Worped , no finish on cue , age patina on wood...

My eyes light up because I can see that this is a very old cue.

He continues to tell me that he got it his freshman year and plaid with it during college.

Here comes the shocker . He graduated in 63" . This cue is 50+ years old.

No markings and I have never seen this joint design ever. The butt is fatter which makes it appropriate for the age . Plus the micarta joint.

What happened next is the reason I love pool and the old timers.
This guy has no children that appreciate pool. So after hours of us playing pool and me drooling over this vintage he GIVES It to me as a gift because he told me I would appreciate it more. I almost cried.

This cue will never me sold andounted in a display case. I just curious of we can find more info about the maker. The cue has no markings except a very faint 9. I belive the cue was 19 oz at a point.

Thanks

WOW!

Seriously what a great gift to receive and the sentimental value this Cue will holding for original owner would be huge and you are very lucky to have it passed on to you. I have no idea who would of made it and if i remember correctly a lot of cue manufacturers did not start officially branding their cues until a bit later and my grandfather also has a few old cues and use to tell me they were sold with just a bit of paper hanging off them with all the manufacturer details and stuff.

Beautiful old cue though and can you post a Pic of the ferrule and tip??

I have an old cue with about the same joint. Mine was made in England.

I think the initials on it is BCE.
