Hello. I have this posted in the main forum. Someone mentioned 3 C so I am posting it here to see if anyone here may know who made this cue. It is at least 10 years old, if not 30 years. It was suppose to belong to an elderly gentleman who passed away 30 years ago. If not his then his son's, he passed away 10 years ago. That is how I get my time frame. I do not know many cemakers that use wood pins. I have already ruled out Chuck Starkey. Any help is appreciated.

Ron Kilby uses wood pins. That doesn't look like his recent work, but he's been making cues since 1987, so who knows what he's made. You might want to ask him about it. His web site is http://www.caromcues.com/. He's a really nice guy and makes great cues.
 
Billiardshot's signature line reminded me that Dieckman has sometimes used a wood pin. It certainly doesn't look like his style (among other things, no Kokopelli on the butt), but he's been around quite a while and I don't know what his early cues looked like.

shayne87, You right the shafts are pool shafts, not carom. I believe cue fix was told 3C section, because of the wooden pin joint.

The other thread confirmed its a Mariposa Cue - which built pool cue.

Definetly not a Mariposa. Kyle's cues were much better than this. I have the twin to this cue only in darker color but I don't know the maker. I live in central Il. The que hits well if you like wood to wood, and shafts tapered for pool.
 
crappie [Bob] I was info after posting about Mariposa Cue, that the owner of that cue did live in Chicago,Il.

Any chance of posting picture of your cue for comparing?

Kyle did make pj cue, and yes butterfly cue mainly. Please notice ring work on butt and at joint on picture below. Also believe there were a write up about Mariposa cue in the Feb. 2008 issue of INSIDE POOL magazine.

You might call the Chicago Billiard Cafe, on Forest Parkway, in Chicago if they are still in business, Kyles dad did own it and I believe his brother, I think his name was Augie, was running it.

I was told that Kyle went up north to Canada to live. I did not know he made anything but butterfly type butts, I guess he could have when he first started out. I saw two of his butterfly cues sell for $900 apiece in Olathe Ks about 3 years ago. When he was making them he made two different grades $400 and $600.

He made a pretty fair cue. Good workmanship in my opinion.

I just wanted to say thank you to all that replied and a special thank you to billiardshot who pointed me in the right direction. Kyle confirmed it is a Mariposa cue.
 
Glad you found out which cuemaker. This what Az family for.

Crappie , Maybe you should email Kyle or get with cue fix, about your unknown cue -if its a twin. Are just sell it to me for a $1.00 [LOL] I'll take a chance. Still like to see picture of your cue.
