Hello folks,

Can anyone identify this table? It is a 9' table, has 1" slate, and was reportedly purchased in the 60s for a fire station in DC.

These pics are all I have to work with, trying to decide if it is worth the drive. Thanks!

asking price is $800, the drive is 100+ miles. The table is disassembled and the slates are professionally crated.

The price is not too bad. The only problem is knowing that all the pieces are there. It seems that this table has been moved by movers from another location because that (crating) is generally what is done to slates.
I don't know about used table prices in your area but some lower end tables in our area can be bought for 300 - 500. Does anything else come with the table?

Thanks. I will try to go by and look at it and if I can't identify it I will take some better pictures. I don't know if anything else comes with it, but probably any pool related stuff he still has.

I must agree that (given the pictures I have) it looks like a sport king. Any idea of how these compare to the Gold Crowns?

I found one eons ago at a senior center.
The slates were good. I was told they were PA slates ( not Italy ).
The frame was ok. The top rail looked like Anniversary's but they were lighter.
Still much better than these imported crap you see around.
Now, if you can find a GC I or II for $1500, I'd hold off.

The ad in Denver is not the one near me, but the Denver pictures look a lot like the pictures I am looking at... Of course my pictures are not very detailed.

OK, thanks. I'll probably go look at this one but will keep your advice in mind...

Gold Crowns are aplenty around SoCal. :)

I agree, I have a Sport King and it looks very much like the pictures, although hard to say for absolute certain from those shots.

My table is very solid and plays beautifully. I suppose it depends on what rails are installed, and I have no idea if mine are original or not, but the pockets are wide but cut so that they are not very forgiving.

I like it a lot, and at $800 I think it's a great deal.
