Hi everyone, my name is Ian Richardson, I am 21 years old, a Scottish Snooker player, currently playing in the amateur ranks working towards achieving professional status within my chosen
sport.

I would be very grateful if anyone could advise / provide pointers of any opportunities for me to participate in Pool competitions in the USA or how to gain entry to professional tournaments in the US, if this is possible.

Any assistance or information anyone can provide would be very much appreciated.

Best Regards
Ian

Ian, you might want to contact Karen Corr. She is from Ireland and plays professional here now. She could probably give you a lot of useful information.

Ian,
Check out this website;
Aberdeen nine Ball Association,
There is lots of info there for you. You can find out where to play right in Scotland and England. There are links to several other sites that may be of help as well. There are several players that participate on the UK Tour that also play over here; Imran Majid, Raj, Daryl Peach, Steve Knight, Rico Diks, etc that can help you out. I am sure if you go play in one of their events, you will be able to hook up with someone that will help. Also, Doug Gordon is the tournament director, and he can provide invaluable assistance as well.

ScottishCue: check out this site for info on the UK 9ball scene: www.pro9.co.uk

The next UK pro event is on at Bristol on the 17th January. I would strongly suggest playing some UK events before hitting the US. There are a number of international-standard players on the tour as Ted has pointed out above. Bluntly, if you can't cut it against them you ain't gonna be able to do the business in the States!

I'm just curious, isn't there a lot more money to be made in Snooker as opposed to pool in the US?
