Help me place a value on this

Greetings, I have a buddy that would like to purchase a cue that I have, but my history is that I’m really terrible at making deals with friends. So I wonder if you all might help a brother out. I have a Predator P3, black with the Predator Luxe wrap, has the Z2 shaft that came with it, also has a BeCue Prime CF shaft 12.0. Everything is in excellent condition, 99/100, almost never used. No chips, no dents. This is a friendly transaction, really, yes, between pool players, so no one is trying to fleece anyone. What do any of you suppose would be fair? Thanks

Don’t know very much about the BeCue CF shaft value, but the excellent condition used Predator P3 butt and shaft in the $500 range. Assuming the BeCue CF shaft’s worth as about the same, I’d ballpark $1k as a fair price.

The Z2 shaft is not really adding much to the package, other than as being an emergency backup shaft to use when the user is getting the CF shaft re-tipped. I assume your buddy has tried out and liked the hit and performance of the cue (with the BeCue shaft) and is not purchasing it untested? If by chance he hasn’t, I’d give him the option to return it for a full refund within 2 weeks.

Cannot give numbers but can give food for thought. Factors I would consider: Age of items. Did you buy new or used? What is retail price of items? Do the two of you agree that condition is "like new"? What would you sell items to someone else for? What is the "fair market value" -- I assume it is less than retail as the items have depreciated -- what would the items bring on AZB or any other means of sale? Is your buddy expecting a deal or is fact you will sell enough, and y'all are simply seeking a fair price? Do you want to sell? Will you regret the sale? Sentimental value? What does he want to pay? What do you want to get. Reverse roles -- what would you pay as a buyer to buddy? to third party?

If you do not want to sell and he really wants the items, he should pay your price. Your problem is being fair but not being a chump.

All things being equal:
You two agree to a price range and fill out slips of paper with increments of the range, put them in hat, pull three and average, or

You two agree on a high price and low price and play a race to X (appropriately handicapped) you win: high price -- he wins: low price, or

Flip coins.

Get a "right of first refusal" if buddy decides to sell.

Good luck.

Make it easy, and just give it to him for Christmas. 😃

If not, I think $853 dollars would be a good asking price.

Stick alone retails for around $850. BE shaft $500. Depends on how much you paid and how much you're willing to lose on a sale to a friend. I'd start at $1200.

$900-1000. Used production cues depreciate pretty quik.
Like I stated earlier, $1000 is a nice even price and fair for both in my opinion, even if you likely paid more $ for it. Anytime you buy a cue/shaft that is not a collector cue, you can’t expect to sell it used for a $ profit or for that matter even for what you $ paid for it. It wouldn’t be worth the $1K unless the BeCue carbon fiber shaft with it is the main reason he wants it.
