Help on Combination Shots

I'm looking for advice on shooting combinations. I will tell you how I usually go about it. I use the first object ball as the cueball and sight the shot into the pocket. Then I sight the cueball to the first object ball as if I were trying to pocket the first object ball (here the 'pocket' would be either the contact point on the second object ball or some point on the cushion/rail that the first object ball needs to be aimed at in order to pocket the second ball).

I suspect most people do something similar to this--sometimes it works very well, but other times it doesn't. So, I'm curious as to whether anyone has different advice or different methods that they have found effective for shooting combinations?

Pay particular attention to what Tom has to say about contact induced throw. It is probably the main reason you are missing shots inexplicably.

I think the last article RJ cited is neither clear nor correct.

Thanks Bob,I removed the last link.
I'm no expert on combos and just provided the info as found on the internet..Hopefully the two remaining links are OK. RJ
