I took a few hi resolution (12 megapixels) pics of my cues, but can't post them due to file size. I can't utilize photobucket due to firewall. Can anyone help? I can email the files fine, but again they are quite large.

No photo expert but

One question.

What will a 12 meg picture show that a 1 meg picture will not?

I would wait till you get home from work and use photobucket, it is the easiest and best way of showing of your cue.

Can't use it there either. We use BSafeonline which is a no override filter, mainly for the kids access to the internet, but it won't work there either. Thanks. The one megapixel pic will be significantly blurred if I reduce the file size and looks really crappy. If there is a different way to do it effectively, I would like to know. Thanks.

Scott,

I'm not going to comment on the quality difference between your 1MP pic and the 12MP one. I'd have to assume that's using different cameras...

Regarding showing the 12MP picture here, that isn't going to happen. It would be enormous... Second, you're not going to be able to host that file on any of the photo hosting sites at that size. They ALL reduce the file size to something managable.

What you need to do is take the picture, and resize it to an appropriate size, then host it online somewhere and share it.

I realize that you want to show the whole cue in close detail, but that really isn't a reasonable option on this site.

What I would recommend is shooting a few macro shots of the area in question, and hosting those at a normal size. I'd be surprised if you need more detail than that. For instance, here's a macro I took of a leaf. This file as you're seeing it is MAYBE 0.1 MP... plenty of detail.

Or if you already have the large, detailed image you could crop sections of it into smaller images and share those.

I'm not sure if I've made things more or less confusing... If you want to host large files and share them with people, you could host them somewhere meant for pictures (picasaweb, photobucket, flickr, etc.) and then link there.

Good luck!

Maybe it is me, but are you confusing 0.1MP with a file size of 0.1MB? I will place with a couple of pics, resizing as you mentioned, and see what happens. I, by the way, could see your pic in this thread. I generally am not able to see them at work. Thanks.

HI-RES PICS

the easiest way to load the HI-RES pics is to create a free account at www.photobucket.com and load the pics there. you don't have to worry about the size on that site, they can be as large as you have on your computer. then when you want to insert them into a post on az, click on the little icon that look like this:

insertimagecopy.jpg

and cut and past the direct link of the picture you want from photobucket into the dialog box and click ok. very important, then take your cursor at the end of the line that appears in your post (after the last ]) and hit return. you can preview it to make sure it works.

this works with any size pics.

oops, just read the part about the firewall and photobucket, but i don't think there is any other way.

I think I fixed the problem. I was using a different type of software in the past and the file resizing apparently sucked. It seems to be much better with a different software program. Hope you guys can see my pics in my newest thread!
