I have heard that there are two different profiles for cushions(rails). Could someone help clear this up for me? Also, what do they use on the Diamond tables? thanks for any responses:) :D ;)

While you're at it what kind of cushions can we put on a Proline table to improve the rebound. We have 6 Proline tables with dead cushions. The guy who replaces our cloth (760 & 860) tells us it won't help to replace the cushions because the wood is pine and that absorbs the rebound action.

I just purchased some Championship Cushions, from Champioship Billiards. I got the Tournament Series, it is new. The cushion is a dual density rubber cushion available in 2 or 3 different profiles. The Cushions are great.

Jake, something that you could check is the actual height of the cushion nose to the bed of the table. We have some Prolines here, that when assembled, had the cushion nose too low and was causing the OB to jump. Perhaps, somebody overcorrected the tables at your place, by using shims under the rails or something. Thus trapping the OB, making the cushion appear dead.

Sorry LuvFun90, don’t know much about the different cushion profiles and types.

let me just say this about cushions. anyone reading this i want you to take this challenge. play on an olhausen pool table with accu-fast cushions. i will tell you now, you will NEVER play on cushions like these. 2 things make them the best ever. #1 they are the most accurate cushions ever. it's next to impossible to miss a bank shot, and if you do miss a bank shot, it's THE PLAYERS FAULT!!! and #2 they are the fastest cushions you ever played on, hence the name accu-fast.

Thanks anyhow hustlefinger.I was asking because I play at my local bar and I can speed the ball quite well. Then when I go to play at this other poolhall for USPPA the CB is flying all over the place. I also noticed that when the CB is frozen to the rail at poolhall#2 the reveal is less then at my local bar. They are both 4 1/2x9's. I just don't understand what the difference could be. I'm not the only one who notices the different reaction the CB gets off the rails, except for the players who don't play anywhere else.

As I mentioned above, perhaps the height is different. Making the contact points different, when an object ball contacts the cushion closer it’s equator then the return bounce is more noticeable. The WPA specifications on tables state that the cushion nose should be 63.5% to 64.5% of the diameter of the ball.

They've very cheap too. I don't know if they'd last as long as the Artemis cushions though.
Olhausen's quality is great. Playability?
A Diamond rep told me one time their cushions tip is at 29/64.
They used to use Championship but now use Artemis.
The old Brunswick Monarch cushions were the best. Period.

This has nothing to do with your problem, but there are 2 different styles of cushions that i know of. 1 style is the snooker L-Shaped type cushions and the other is for pool tables im not sure what this style is called. Kinda irrelivant but i just thought you might wanna know...

The are several really. U23, K55, K66 and billiard cushions.

Hey Kevin.. here is the answer to your subject.... the tables you are talking about are horrible. LOL.. The man's room in question, has billiard cloth on a pool table! The cushions are not the right heighth, and on and on and on... Ask Paul Potier what he thinks of that place.. :) But.. there are other profiles for cushions to aleviate the problem you are facing when froze on the rail,- beside the cushion being the wrong height. The best cushions are Artemis. They bend down from the rail, and are still the proper height. With that shape.. you can see more of the cueball, and it cut's down on the miscues- when you can actually hit most of the ball. Diamond rails are also shaped the same way, but they suck in comparison to Artemis, because they get hard very fast. Artemis supposedly lasts 20 yrs if put on correctly
Smell ya later.

I appreciate all the input, looks like I'll be down there tomorrow with my tape measure and check them.Doesn't seem as if the owner knows or he just doesn't want to spill the beans. Thanks again.

nice to hear from you Josh and thats what I was looking for.Someone that knows first hand what I am talking about.By the way I took 1st place monday night, lucky you weren't there.
