Help with black boar pricing

Hello,

I have a Black Boar AS8 excellent condition with one orginal shaft and dead straight. It is 58 inches long, 19.5 ounce and the tip size is 12.8mm with an ivory ferrule, black backing pad and a new moori meduim tip.

I bought the cue from Cornerstone Cues a while back and want to sell the cue soon. However, I would like to list it at a reasonable and fair price for myself and the buyer to ensure a hassle free sale.

I am in Australia and will send the cue to Proficient for Escrow and to have the specs professionally measured and the shaft cleaned and resealed and maybe a refinish on the lower butt which has a few blemishes in the finish. Also to have it professionally photographed as i only have pics of the butt currently.

The cue will come in an old brown leather fellini which is in excellent condition with a minor tear in the bottom from road play (i will not sell the case separately)

The Black Boar website suggests the cues range from $4K upwards but does not mention any particular costs for individual models.

Any legitimate suggestions of a ball park price would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Leon

With the Fellini case, I think 4K is pretty close. The cue only has 1 shaft and that is what came with the cue from Tony, but some cues have had an extra shaft that was made at the BB shop.
Anyways, it's a nice cue. Good luck with the sale.

Bb

CUE MINT 100% ORIGINAL WITH 2 SHAFTS IS WORTH BETWEEN $4200AND 4500.00 good luck with the sale youd be lucky in this market to recieve more for it

I agree with 9ballking $4200-$4500 with the Fellini case, however if I
owned the cue I doubt I would sell it.
To me personally it would be worth more.

Very nice cue

Nice cue!!! I just sold that very cue to a collector in NY. My cue was original owner and leather wrap with two original shafts (both 12.9/13mm).

AS-8 is an awesome cue but with one original shaft and possibly refinished by someone other than Tony the value takes a hit, especially in an economy such as we are in.

I would recommend not having it refinished and reducing the price allowing the next owner to make the decision who will touch the cue from that point forward.

You have an incredible cue and my estimate would be $3500 today.....$4000+ when the economy recovers.

Hope this helps and good luck.

thanks guys for the feedbck. this gives me food for thought.

i may hold on to it as long as i can or until a good offer comes along..

cheers

I bought a Black Boar very similar too it about 9 months ago except mine had the ivory inlays in the points. It came with two BB shafts. The butt was in pristine condition and the shafts showed normal wear of play for an old cue.

I paid $3000 for mine plus an old Espiritu cue that I'd paid somewhere in the vicinity of $1000 for. So, in this market... I'd say you would get anywhere from $3500 to $4000 tops. I'm pretty sure you could get $3500 for it within a few minutes of listing it. But getting over $4000 would probably be difficult, especially if you are shipping it internationally. People are sometimes leary of doing that.

Just my thoughts! :)

Greg
