Help with my Helmstetter

Hey Guys !
First post, not even sure I got the right forum, but I'm told you guys are the cuemasters..so here goes..
I have a Helmstetter that I purchased in late 80's. Great cue, but poor storage practices over the years have produced some warping in the shaft.
When I "google" helmstetter looking for replacement shaft, all I can find refer to the RH series. These cues have a stainless joint. I have what appears to be an ivory joint. Some more searching for 'classic' Helmstetter's showed me a model that was closer to what I have, it was the TJ-2. As I can find no nomenclature on my cue to identify the model/series, would I be able to use the 13mm tapered that is commonly available for the newer Helm's....or should I go to the custom cue guy guy in town and have one made ($80 internet replacement vs. $120 custom shaft locally)? I don't even know if the RH shaft will work..

help and suggestions much appreciated,
Thank You

I see from the Model number, you may have a "Twin Joint" cue. These inserts and pins are probably unlike any available locally. They have 2 sets of threads on one pind-(insert).

Start here--> http://www.theadamcueco.com/

Take a real good digital pic of cue, and also the butt joint and shaft joint.

Email Adams Cue Co. and get a response from them. They will probaly have some "TJ" shafts for sale, or will advise you further on helping you.

Great bunch of people.
Good Luck

The joint may be white, but I doubt that it is Ivory. I sold Helmstetters all through the 80s & never once saw a Helmstetter with Ivory in it. Dick Helmstetter leads the fight against the use of Ivory in pool cues. Go to competitionsports.com, they now own the Helmstetter brand...JER
