Help With Thin Cuts Into Side

Here is a shot that gives me problems. Its when you have a really thin cut into the side pocket. If you just hit this with center ball you run the risk of scratching in the upper left corner. If you try and draw it around its so thin that its tough to dig into it and get the draw off the 1B.

And once again - I know the diagram may not be perfect but everybody knows what kind of shot I am talking about here. And once again - the thin cut into the side pocket is the ONLY pocket for the 1B, I just didn't want to put several other balls on the table.

Anyway, anybody have any tips on how to handle a shot like this? And yes, I realize it depends on where you want the CB to go next so feel free to ad lib here.

Like you said, the hit's too thin to give you any CB control - so if the natural carom off the 1 is into the corner pocket, and there's no other shot, play safe.

tough back cut
depending on the conditions, I might try it
hit with inside to control the cb
it's maybe tougher that way
but if you don' t have to worry about the cb
you can focus on the cut
and drop it!

I like the safety option. But in the diagram, as shown, the cut to the corner with draw is much easier than the cut in the side or a safety shot, and keeps the cb controlled much better. It's a little thinner than a halfball hit. A 3/8 hit would work, with draw to avoid scratching in the side.
