I have two ideas I would like to develop, one is concerning a break shaft design, and the other concerns a layered tip design. I am loking for someone to answer a few questions...What is a multi-layered tip held 2gether by? Tannic acid?? I have a design I want to create a prototype.

That is a million dollar questoin there!

I am taking a guess here but I would have to say some type of resign epoxy. It would be strong enough to stay together and thin also. Should have nearly invisible glue lines. I would try doing a search on a impact resistant resign epoxy or glue's. Sorry I couldn't help more.

contact cement i would guess. alcohol breaks a latered tip down very very easily. prob a mixture but something that stays somewhat soft when dry

contact cement or rubber cement on both side. let dry for 20 mins . put together and press for a day. thats how i would start atleast.

Thaks for input!

I do know that cyanocrylate glue, gorilla glue, contact and rubber cement have all failed.
I have tried sanding, roughing and smooth. Tire cement has done best so far, fraying the leather with a steel brush and pressing. Of course, I have been using manufactured tips to do it - Im sure tannery supplied rawhide could act a tad better.

The biggest problem is the thickness of where the tire cement soaks into the leather, Man, I have wrecked a few house cues!!! I let the rookies and ball-bangers hit a week or two and see what happens and mark the cues!!!

xtraseal

It was an accident to try it, but x-tra seal. It came from a tire patch kit. It was too thin and runny compared to another tire glue, so I patched with some other I had. This tube has to be 2 years old.
