Steve Davis is just being gracious.

The young players today are a RESULT of Davis and Hendry showing the way.
It's not much different than a man saying....

Yup, faster cloth produces more centuries.
It's not that it makes the game easier...
Fast cloth makes more things POSSIBLE.

And Davis and Hendry showed the next generation a better way of playing.
