2001 Hercek for sale.

  • 2 shafts with ivory ferrules, one 13 mm and one 12.75mm
  • Leather wrap; Piloted SS joint; 58”, 19.4 oz;
  • Maple forearm with ebony points and ivory inlays. As goes without saying for a Hercek the points are dead-even and razor sharp. 4 veneers (maple, ebony, grey, ebony).
  • Ebony butt sleeve, delrin butt cap.
  • 28 Ivory inlays total in the butt and forearm.
  • It’s in 98% condition because I rarely use it. I’ve never felt comfortable taking it to the places I shoot, so I just never used it that often.
  • Both tips are original. As the pics show, one tip has a fair amount of use on it and the other is barely played.
  • I also have the original invoice, shipping label, and a letter from Joel.

A few pictures are below, and there are more up on Yahoo at http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/capps...done=http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos. (This should work now, though you may need a yahoo account.)

$3,750

heres one with a leather wrap also, larger and more ivory inlays, ivory ringwork and a Spain blank/forearm that just sold for 3550.

http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-JOEL-HERCE...ryZ21212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

another Spain blank cue for 2450...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Hercek-cue_W0QQ...ryZ21212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and cuenut/Scott's cue with scrimshawed ivory and ivory joint was 4100 recently...

i offer 2800....

$3750 is a bit steep, but the wait list is long...If you don't want to wait, then you pay a premium. The price should be more around $3500. This cue and the Ebay cue are about the same, except for the ivory stitching. But the inlays are almost equal- Ebay(more ivory in the butt), this cue has more ivory in the points. Also, none of these cues has a Spain Blank. The straight grain maple used in the forearm is from old stock (Burton Spain's).

I hope the $2800 offer wasn't serious because $2800 is highway robbery. Why not just offer $100? Does everyone out there try to rob each other? We insult the seller and the forum when we try to sucker people out of their hard earned cues. Make a legit offer, don't fish!

ps. IF THE OFFER WAS IN JEST, THEN.... I WAS JUST RANTING! MY BAD

IMO of course

I think scruggsinhand's post is because the seller has been asking about fair market value of his cue.

In my opinion the one sold on eBay has more intricate and attractive inlays .. so I offer $3200 delivered to me in California :D

that was the intent and to get some others peoples opinions//offers....i thought the 2800 probably wouldnt fly, but ya never know...

$3750 is more than steep, IMO ;) , when for $4000....just $300 more you get scrimmed ivory, ivory joint and ringwork...you have to agree that 3750 is a starting point only...

same basic cue with some ivory and WITH an ivory joint sold very recently for 3200....

alot of us came to the same conclusion that its a 2800-3300 cue....

sorry about the misqoute on the Spain stock..i read the listings too fast

I have to say I have been offer few NICE Hercek for $4K .. all with ivory joint and nice inlays. Only reason I haven't bought one is that I can't find one over 19oz yet.

I wish the seller only the best wish on the sale.

good luck folks

Sorry guys
Just Ranting:D
I like the prices high on Herceks

ya, i would hate to have the cues you have listed in your sig...:p :p :p

no worries Rob...just good conversation IMO. ;)

Do cues commonly sell here for the originally listed price? Of course I left some room to move on the price. On the other hand, and in contrast to the guy who recently sold a comparable cue on eBay, I'm in no hurry to sell.

A similar Hercek on eBay went for $3550 about a week ago; a nicer one went on AZB recently for $4100; the Blue Book says $4000. All in all, that makes $3750 seem like a reasonable price to start with. (And Cornerstone sold a less detailed Hercek that was listed for $3990.)

If you want to pay $2500 (or whatever his current price is) instead, you can call Joel and have your cue in hand sometime around 2012 to 2014.

I think your cue is about right for a new cue retail. Many on this forum search for buys that they can turn around and make a few bucks on when they resell it. However, there are a few cuemakers out there who's second hand cues command close to or more than original retail pricing. Joel is one, as are Barry Szamboti, Searing, and a couple of others. I think your cue is a solid $3200-3400 for someone who is looking to buy and keep a Hercek, as opposed to most who are listed in this thread. JMO
