Ive used the original Hercules hard tips for a while. Between those and the milk duds, Im pretty much set on what tips I like. Well, the Hercules hard tips are getting pretty hard to come by anymore, so I bought some from ebay. When they came in the mail, there was a note inside saying he had ran out of those and he gave me some original Hercules mediums, and some of those H2 tips that I really dont care for. Does anyone know how they compare to the hard Hercs? Thats all Im interested in, not how they compare to lepro, moori, or any other tip, lol. Thanks for the help.

p.s. Before anyone says anything, I did email the dude and explain to him how pissed I am for not getting what I paid for, and I am waiting for his response. Im hoping I might like them though.

I really like Hercules Med tips, the originals. Those H2's are garbage though. Obviously the med will play softer than the hards but once you get them to about half way down they stiffen up quite a bit and will play great for a very long time. From what I have noticed some Med play pretty damn hard. There seems to be some inconsistency in their production. You can usually tell by the color of the tip. The darker it is the harder it will play from what I have seen.

This dude sells the Original Hard Hercules - http://www.cuecomponents.com/he12lacuetip.html . And if you look at the picture you will see some of the tips with M on them are darker than others, those will definitely play the hardest.

I had mediums on my Gulyassy, both shafts, and the tips didn't play the same. They lasted well, for as long as I had them on, which was several months. I didn't like it that they didn't play the same so I eventually switched to Moori mediums. Much better! I have always alternated shafts so that the tips/shafts wear about the same and have always played with two shafts.
I no longer have the cue and have Triangles on my current cue.
Sorry, I never played with the hard ones.

I have a medium on one of my shafts and a hard on the other. I can tell no difference in how they play. They even install the same, scuff the same, hold chalk the same.

I have tried all the layered tips, with the exception of Kamui, and keep going back to the Hercules.

Thanks for all the input. I just counted the layers, and these are 12 layer tips? Im thinkin I got hosed all together. Did Hercules make a 12 layer tip besides those trash H2 tips? Hmm.... As for the color, they are definatley lighter in color than the original 23 layer hard tip I have in my tip box. Now Im quite curious!

Heres some pics of these tips. The medium tips have no Hercules id on em, while the hard tip has a gold H on it.

I have never seen those markings on a Hercules. Usually they just have either a gold M or H. And contrary to what the folks at Billiard warehouse think, the H stands for hard not for hercules.
