Hey everybody, hope the holidays were good for you & your pool game. I finally found time to try out one of my Christmas presents. A few of us got together & played a new Pool Game called “WitchBall”. It’s a new twist on the game & requires a higher level of skill… “precise speed”.

Here's the intro to learning this great game

As one of young tutors remarked... Try it, you'll like it".

I saw the WitchBall guy at the BCA 8-Ball Championship, he was telling people about the new game. They were selling those little red discs like pancakes at a Cowboy Breakfast.

It's a different twist, it also incorporates the traditional side of Pool

There are lots of youtube videos about Witchball....one with Stevie Moore, one with Jennifer Beretta & others too.

Wow! I can't believe how much fun this new game is. My buddies and I saw it being played in Boston and decided to try it out. We really like the new twist in puts into the great game of billiards.

Wow! What a fun new game. Me and couple of my buddies saw this being played in Boston a couple months ago. Looked interesting so we decided to give it a try. We now play it all the time. Adds a lot of excitement and strategy to the great game of billiards.

Scuba, where do you and your buddies play at. You ever down in the NY area? If so, would like to shoot a little Witchball with you or anyone else in the NY area.

Yes, it's quite a game! So much more involved now. It really makes the game of billiards so much more exciting to watch and play.

Jason, that's an idea. I do love playing cut throat myself. Maybe cut throat could be adapted to Witchball? I will try to play it sometime and let you know what I think.

Why not just play safe? I mean, good for them trying to innovate a new pool game, but I was watching on Youtbe and when you miss the Witch Stand, you pretty much sell out. No idea where your OB will go when you miss, too, because of the roundness. Also, you can't shoot long shots down the center of the table because of it!! Sorry, I think I will have to pass on Witch Ball and also LMAO if I ever see one of these in real life.

I have been fortunate to have played this game a little bit. Yep, you are right, you can't shoot down the middle, shame on you for having to shoot that shot. The whole game is laced with strategy, tough strategy. You probably have never played Bottle Pool, which requires positioning to avoid the bottle in the center of the table.

The strategy for running out or choosing to win-lose with the Sudden Death Shot is always the choice a player has to make.

Everybody has a little bit of traditionalism in their sole. Look at the games we have to play, one more won't hurt.

Well, "playing it safe" is always the easy way out of anything. You probably have not ever played the game so you really cannot comment on it a knowingly manner. LMAO??? At what? I mean, everything has it's place in time and everything is always changing. Maybe it's time for WitchBall? Billiards could use a little more "Excitement" and "Strategy" added to the game. So, why not embrace creative, new ideas and be open minded enough to at least try them before you condemn them.
Just my thoughts

Ok, point taken. I concede that I probably jumped the gun a little bit there. I apologize for not taking your game seriously. I guess I will have to play to know for sure whether I would enjoy it or not.

For now, though, I personally think it looks kinda ridiculous. Just one person's opinion, though. Take it for what it's worth.

Well, I watched the video and it sort of looks like "clown's mouth pool" to me, but I've been wrong before. Decades ago when I first was exposed to One Pocket, I just didn't get the attraction of a game where on so many shots the purpose wasn't to pocket a ball.

WTH, if it's fun and people enjoy playing it, great.

Hey Dog,
I am with you. When I first saw this thing sitting in the middle of the pool table, I thought, WTH is that! Then after watching these young guys having fun and playing it, I decided to give it a try. Since then, I have really learned the game and its strategy. I find it to be really challenging to keep focused on both the offensive and defensive plays needing to occur to keep you somewhat "safe". While, at the same time, positioning yourself for the "Win".
Just something new...some may like it, others may not. I am more of an open minded person and embrace change. Billiards needs a little "excitement" added to the game if you ask me. I guess, "whatever trips your trigger" is OK with me.

Learning & understanding the strategy end of witchball ain't no over-nighter. The Tournament & the Intro Video do a great job of defining the new game, for those not fortunate enough to have seen this NEW TWIST...

Playing the game & controlling the game & table is the player's goal. Because of the Sudden Death Shot... 10 cents safeties won't do the trick. If the controlling player can continually cause the opponent to "go for it", odds are in his favor to win. BUT the controlling player has to have the Ball Speed required to finish the game.

The Finale is a nail biter, cause it's not about firing the 8 or 9 Ball into a pocket.. it is a FINESSE shot & if you don't have real Ball Speed... you may not become the winner, as the players saw in the Tournament finals.

Try it, you might like it. $10 (I thinks that's what my wife spent for it) is an inexpensive investment to learn something NEW & have fun doing it.
