So, how is everyone doing?
I have been away from AZ for the last I don't know? 6 or 8 months. No real reason, just got back into some old hobbies like machining, and target/skeet shooting and reloading shotgun.....talk about forum wars!
...wanna see some fun things to do with a shotgun? ...do a search for "wax slugs".
About 2 months ago while driving from one job to another, a lady turned left in front of us in my plumbing truck, and all but put us on the roof! In short, truck is totaled and in the scrap yard....my left hip/shoulder/back are damaged, and I HATE dealing with insurance co's!
While doing rehab I started hitting balls again to get my butt off the couch to loosen up the body. Thank God for the table downstairs! My good friend Jimmy also purchased a great pool room here, so I need to get back in stroke!!!
Here's a few things that have come to mind lately, and they might help some of you get over the speed bumps in your games!
Here's what I have found during my practice over the last few months. I always played well, I could run 100 balls occasionally, and could beat the 10ball ghost, BUT, I knew my game had BIG holes in it, and I was putting bandaids on them for years.
>Tech/LD shafts, pick whichever you like, are priceless in what they can bring to the inside of the CB. I use OB2's. If you feel they are a joke?, please, by all means keep thinking that way....I used to, and I regret every minute I wasted.
>Pick whichever aiming system, or systems, that work to your eye, and perfect them. Learn kicking and banking systems and use them. I was...WAS, a "feel"....just get up behind it and make it....kinda player. All the friggin years I wasted with all that feel BS was just being too ignorant and lazy to learn the right way to play! I guess the quote "when the student is ready the teacher will appear" was never more true. And the Guru was right up the road from me here in PA. Like above....I can only hope all my opponents feel, like I did, that aiming systems are useless.
>To improve, practice the basics....grip/stance/alignments/drills.....stupidly simple, but sage words none the less. Get someone who knows the game to look at your game, and be open to a new ideas. It's fun to practice what we are good at, but that won't help where we are lacking.
There was a time when I used to tell myself...."well, this is as good as you will ever get!...the Pros just have something I'll never have". Lately, I am not willing to accept that anymore. My own ignorance and lack of flexibility were the only thing holding me back. I'm 46 and playing better then ever. Imagine if I was able to open my head up to these ideas 20 years ago? The world just might be one less plumber! HA@!
Have fun everyone!

p.s. I know I have a bunch of PM's to read and get back to....please give me some time, and thanx for waiting.
