I'm just wondering, is there a rule in European snooker pro tour that says you aren't allowed to bet? I'm just wondering. I know in our pro sports it's one of the rules that you aren't allowed to. If it is a rule that there is no betting allowed then sure he should be banned since its a rule, but if it's not, then..
Who says you need to play your best all the time? This guy wants to make the most money possible. Any good gambler knows its not whether you win or lose, its which way you make the most money.
When Tom Cruise bets against himself vs Paul Newman in The Color Of Money (I know it's just a movie) people think that part is great.. and it is. He did what he had to, to make the big cash.
You can say whatever you want about the "integrity of the game." You are the one playing, you can choose to shoot good and try to win, or try to lose if you want. There have been pro basketball teams doing bad and purposely sit there starters to get a better draft pick.
If you want to have gambling on a sport where one individual can determine the outcome, then that's the chance you take betting on it. This sort of thing has happened before "1991 challenge of champions." I don't see people saying that Buddy Hall and all them should be banned. People love Buddy Hall still, even after that.
Like i said though. If one of the bylaws of the pro tour he plays in states there is no gambling then he should be penalized for breaking the rules. But if it's not a rule, then let him do what he wants. Do you think he wants the 1st place trophy to collect dust, or the stack of cash.
I'm sure everybody disagrees with me, but hey I'm all about the money.
