High Point - Multi Day Challenge Matches

Mosconi preferred high point challenge matches for the title rather than multi-player round robin tournaments. Apparently some of today's pros like them as well as many fans. With the growing popularity of long, multi-day 9 and 10 ball matches (SVB v. Mika; Earl v. SVB; etc) perhaps a long straight pool challenge match (2,500 points+) is in the wings. Maybe, depending on logistics, it can be a multi-city affair as they commonly were in the past. Any thoughts on this?

Didn't John Schmidt and Danny Harriman do one of those a couple of years ago?

They went to 400 in Louisville at the Qlympics. It was a 1 day affair. I believe DH won that go round it was poart of a 3 day all around. I think JS won the whole thing. I think JS used jump cue in the one pocket or something which was wrong this was one of the very first TAR events probably like TAR 3 or something.

I've been saying this for years. Who wouldn't want to see Hohmann and Ortmann play a long match like that? It would ensure that the better player wins, everyone has beaten a better player in a 150 point match but I can't imagine that happeneing in a 1000+ point match.
