Higher skill pocket billiards players - 9 ball or snooker players?

We have actual matches played between snooker players and pool players, with available results.

Snooker players have better ball making ability on tough equipment, pool players have more knowledge of position and the "right" shots to take in pool games.

Occurs to me the American wisdom is based on the way the majority plays and often doesn't hold true when super shooters learn to play along.
