I am looking at his website. The book sounds good. My question is does it show enough about the saw shaft machine to actually build it from the book?

I don't have it in front of me, but I'm guessing no. PM me your e-mail address, and I'll send you some detailed pictures of one. Spending some time with the search feture here will also yield you more pictures of differently constructed machines, including multi-part configurations.

I think you should be able to build one from the drawings in the book, if you are a really good do it yourself type of guy and have a milling machine.
