Just wanted to share for those of you who aren't on the Facebook threads that I post everything to...
I was experimenting with a Bluetooth DRO setup for my Deluxe Cuesmith and wanted so share a few tidbits!
Most of the setup had to be built and or modified to work as space is always an issue with smaller lathes. And not everyone (like myself) has the room for a metal lathe yet.
The setup consist of an Android tablet (I just used my Samsung Tab as it's what I had laying around), up to 3 sliding scales (3 Axis) I only need to utilize 2 (X & Z) for now. A custom made Arduino board (for Bluetooth conversion), TouchDRO application for the tablet. Custom brackets and vibration resistant hardware. Some basic soldering and a lot of calibration netted me the results you can now see in the videos below! Much like everything I do it's a bit on the overkill side but it was a fun build that turned out better than expected! Videos can be viewed in HD if needed just change your screen setting in YouTube.
The app can be used for many many things I just find this to be useful for my current needs, app can datalog tool settings, RPM's etc...
Don't poke fun of my video skills I took them one handed on my phone
